The Tannery is located right off Route 534 on Tannery Road. This historical location was once the largest tannery in the United States from 1860 to 1874. At its peak, it produced 80,000 hides each year. In 1874, the building burned down to the foundation. It was never rebuilt.
On the other side of the river is the beauitful scenic Lehigh Gorge Trail. This trail starts in White Haven and follows the Lehigh River into Jim Thorpe. This is a popular destination for bikers and hikers.
