Lavender Dreams: Celebrating Love and Compassion on Mother’s Day

Since April showers brings May flowers, our farm is prepping our beautiful lavender plants just in time for Mother’s Day. Flowering plants make a great gift for any special person in our life.

Traditionally, sharing flowers, plants or cards on Mother’s Day symbolizes the nurturing bond between a mother and child. For many who honor and celebrate this holiday, the sweet smell of lavender blossoms can serve as a lasting reminder of love and compassion. For others, this holiday may apply to any special person who demonstrates the selfless qualities of generosity and kindness. It reminds us of the sweet nectar that attracts our honeybees to the lavender blossoms.

Historically, Mother’s Day began in 1914 after President Woodrow Wilson recognized Anna Reeves Jarvis’ idea of creating a day that would honor Mom’s as a group. Today, the national holiday is celebrated every second Sunday in May. Over the years, the holiday has evolved to not just include relatives but any other kind-hearted souls who may have acted with compassion as if you were their child. Perhaps that special person came along in your life checking on you when you were sick, sharing a smile, an encouraging word, or cooked meal for you. Whoever that special person is, take a moment to think about how you want to celebrate them. Just like our lavender plants, sometimes we have to just grow where we are planted and have gratitude for each special moment.

If you are interested in purchasing a lavender plant for that special person in your life, please email us at info@hickoryrunlavender.com, visit our website at www.HickoryRunLavender.com, or click on the calendar of events to purchase one of our beautiful lavender plants in person.
